The above image by Jay Cover demonstrates the simplicity in which illustration can be used. Without colour, context or narrative, a message can still be seen through the image.

The next image I have chosen is this picture by Joe matt, a personal favourite of mine. I love Joe's outlook and his unique way of demonstrating opinions.

My next chosen image is by Robert Crumb, I love the use of solid blacks as shading and block colours used otherwise, it creates a simple, comic book feel which I try to reflect in my own work.

The next image is an illustration by Amandine Urruty. I love the sinister feel created by such an innocent image, using textures and a child-like imagery.

My final, and probably favourite image is by an illustrator called Joe Sacco, a journalist and comic book artist who uses his illustrations to demonstrate more meaningful and hard-hitting images than a simple photograph can.
